Lord's Prayer Test 4/27

Hello Everyone, I hope you will have a blessed Holy Week and Easter. We will have a test in class on April 27th. There will be 20 questions over the Lord's Prayer. Come to class prepared to answer matching, fill in the blank, and questions that require COMPLETE sentences. You will receive 5 bonus points is you study with someone from your class. The test will cover the Introduction of the Lord's Prayer and all 7 petitions. (We will have a brief lesson on the conclusion to the Lord's Prayer in class after the test.)

  • Review
A petition is a request that we ask God to answer. Review pages 174-177 in your Small Catechism or page 169 to 172 in the blue Catechism . (QUESTIONS WILL BE TAKEN DIRECTLY FROM THIS SECTION)

  • Introduction:
Read Matthew 6:8 We know we will recieve what we ask for in the Lord's Prayer, because God knows our needs. How is God our Father?

  • 1st Petition
Review the meaning of the first petition in your Small Catechism What is the second commandment? When we pray the 1st petition we pray that we keep the second commandment.

  • 2nd Petition
What are the three Kingdoms that God rules over? Power, Grace, and Glory. (P-G-G) Read the answer to question 212 in your Small Catechism. As a believer you belong to the Kingdom of Power and Grace. The Saints and angels in heaven belong the Kingdom of Glory.

  • 3rd Petition
Satan, the World, and our sinful nature stand against God's plans. Read John 6:40. Read 1 Peter 5:8 and Amos 1:2. Who is the real lion of the Bible? Who is the most powerful lion?

  • 4th Petition
Be familiar with the Exodus 16 A few ways we recieve Daily bread are: food, clothing, shelter, and Communion (i.e. the forgiveness of sins) Remember: Our daily bread covers ALL of our needs.

  • 5th Petition
What is the fifth petition? What do we ask for when we pray this petition? Why should I forgive others? I forgive others, because the forgiveness that Christ gave me is meant to flow out to others.

  • 6th Petition
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-6a25Yo2wE&feature=related Watch the video above and review Matthew 4:1-11 What 3 temptations did Satan use on Jesus? Jesus is not just an example of how to resist temptation, but he shows us in Matthew 4 that he alone can resist Satan. What do we do if we are able to resist temptation? We give glory to God! What do we do if we fail to resist temptation? We pray the 5th petition!

  • 7th Petition

In this petition we pray that God would protect us.

Be prepared to give me a couple sentences about a story IN THE BIBLE where God protected someone from danger. It can be any story where God protected someone, and it can be Old or New Testament.

What does this petition have to do with death? We pray that God would deliver us from Satan and bring us to himself when we die.

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE REVIEW FOR THE TEST PLEASE CALL OR EMAIL ME. IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED WHEN YOU COME TO CLASS, OR IF YOU HAVE NOT STUDIED YOU WILL STILL HAVE TO TAKE THE TEST.

BE PREPARED!

Send me your Holy Spirit so that I can spread your Kingdom. 3rd Petition You given me your 10 commandments. Team Quiz on 3/2

Hello Class!

Wednesday you will have a team quiz on the Apostle's Creed. You will work together to come up with answers and you will compete for points. The more difficult the question the more points it will be worth. The winning team will recieve a prize. You will also be graded individually based on your TEAMWORK, ability to answer questions, and knowledge of the Apostle's Creed. I will explain the rules on Wednesday.

Here are your teams:
Team 1
Bryce and Anthony

Team 2
CJ, Alexa, Jessica

You will be given a secret advantage if you contact your teammates at some point throughout the week to study.

For the team quiz study the following:

Points to review:

*When I say I believe in God, I mean that I am trusting in God for all good things
*God is a Father in three ways: 1) Father of all creation 2) Father of Jesus 3) Father of all believers
*It is important to know that God is Almighty because he is powerful enough to sustain creation and to deliver on his promise of salvation
*Review the meaning of the first article of the creed

*Be able to show me the chapters in the Bible that tell the story of Jesus birth
*Be able to explain to me our examples of two pieces of wood glued together, Kool-aid, and heated metal that glow. Which one is the best example of how Christ was fully human and fully divine?
*Review the state of humiliation and exaltation on pages 130-133 and 138-143 in your Small Catechism
* Review the meaning of the second article of the creed.

*The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. See Matthew 28:19
*Sanctification has two senses, or there are two ways of describing sanctification, the wide and the narrow sense. Review page 150
* The Holy Spirit works faith in us through means. In Church, we know that the Holy Spirit can work from: Bibles, Baptism, Lord's Supper, Preaching, Readings, and any other way the Word is presented.
* Tell me why a person should come to church?
* Remember your fill in the blank from last class. What does John 11 and John 5 teach us about the Resurrection?
*Review the Third Article and it meaning.

*Finally draw for me a diagram that describes the Trinity, and review the "three omni's": omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent.
